Enhanced sugar production in India

Sugar production in India is on an upward trajectory for the 2025-2026 period, confirming expectations of a strong performance this year. Current data shows an increase of about 8% compared to last year, suggesting an enhancement in the industry's production dynamics. According to the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF), total production has already reached 27.39 million tons by mid-April, surpassing both last year's corresponding performance of 25.43 million tons and the total of the previous crop season, which was set at 26.2 million tons. The rise is mainly attributed to the strong performances of two key production regions. In Maharashtra, production increased by 23%, reaching 9.92 million tons, maintaining the country's leading position.
