The EU's soft wheat production forecast for 2023/24 has been lowered by 1.4 million tons to 124.7 million tons, attributed to disappointing yields in France, Germany, and Croatia due to hot and dry weather. Rain in Scandinavia, the Baltic countries, and Poland is further causing concerns by delaying harvesting and impacting grain quality. Meanwhile, the corn harvest forecast has also been reduced by 2.1 million tons to 58.7 million tons, but recent rains in certain regions may help prevent further deterioration.
