This calculation was made by the information agency on fisheries following the meeting of the Far Eastern Scientific and Industrial Council, which took place on Thursday in Vladivostok. At the meeting, a revised forecast for the catch of Pacific salmon this year was presented – 227 thousand tons against 335.5 thousand tons in 2025. "If the forecast is 100% accurate, then this year no more than 8.2 thousand tons of red caviar will be harvested, which is almost 4 thousand tons less than last year," Interfax was informed by the head of the agency, Alexander Savelyev.
