According to the Spanish Federation of Associations of Exporting Producers of Fruit, Vegetables, Flowers, and Live Plants (FEPEX), European exports of fruit and vegetables to Ibero-American countries have been declining until 2021. However, there has been a slight increase in European sales in these countries in 2022, with a total volume of 359,280 tons and a value of 334 million euros. Brazil is the main destination for European exports, primarily apples and onions, while the main Latin countries that purchase European produce are Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, and Chile. Spanish exports to South America in 2022 accounted for 96,183 tons and a value of 113 million euros, with Brazil also being the main recipient of Spanish exports, including plums, apples, onions, and oranges.
