For the first half of 2024, Moldova's corn exports have seen a significant decrease, with a total of 264 thousand tons, which is a 70% drop compared to the same period in the previous year. The majority of these exports were to Romania, accounting for 36.5% of the total, followed by Turkey and Switzerland. Additionally, the article highlights the substantial corn consumption by local ethanol producers in Moldova, with figures showing that between June 2021 and June 2024, they exported 138.5 million liters of alcohol and 73.3 thousand tons of DDGS, requiring the use of around 374.3 thousand tons of corn.
