The non-governmental organization (NGO) Ação da Cidadania has received a donation of more than 5,000 tons of food produced by family agriculture, through the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), which will benefit more than 2 million people across Brazil. Thus, the 2025 Hunger-Free Christmas campaign will be the largest since its inception 32 years ago. The initiative is the result of a partnership with the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger (MDS) and the National Supply Company (Conab). For the executive director of Ação da Cidadania, Rodrigo “Kiko” Afonso, the achievement is even more significant because of the type of food being distributed. “Being able to put family agriculture food in these baskets, which is something we have been trying to make viable for years, is a huge accomplishment,” he celebrated in a statement.
