Russian farmers are responding to export duties on grain by increasing the cultivation of niche crops such as coriander, peas, soybeans, and mustard. This trend, driven by profitability and diversification needs, is evident with coriander's growth by over 30% in 2020 and soybean's 17% increase in 2021. Despite occupying a small fraction of the total crop area, these niche crops are gaining favor for their profitability and resilience. Large agricultural enterprises like Agroholding "Econiva" are also increasing their niche crop acreage, with a planned expansion of lentil cultivation. The shift towards niche crops reflects farmers' strategies to adapt to changing market conditions and maximize profits.
