The Fisheries Development Oman (FDO), a division of the Oman Investment Authority, has added a new state-of-the-art fishing vessel, 'ADAMAS', to its Oman Pelagic subsidiary's fleet. The vessel, built by Zamakona Shipyard in Spain, is designed to promote sustainable fishing practices and boost Oman's economy and food security. Equipped with advanced environmental instruments and biodegradable fish aggregation devices, it is capable of holding 1200 tonnes of tuna and operates efficiently while minimizing environmental impact. This addition signifies the first phase of FDO's expansion plans, focusing on the fisheries sector, and is expected to strengthen Oman's commercial fishing fleet, contributing to the blue economy and national food security.
