Saudi Arabia has received its first shipment of 25,000 sheep from Australia in over 12 years, in response to increased meat demand during Ramadan. The arrival of the shipment has stabilized meat market prices in the country, with more shipments expected ahead of the Islamic Hajj pilgrimage season in June. The Saudi Ministry of Agriculture has imported 1.7 million heads of cattle in the past two months from various countries, including Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, South Africa, Bahrain, Oman, Georgia, Romania, Bulgaria, Australia, Brazil, the UAE, Qatar and Jordan.
