After 24 years of negotiations, Chilean table grapes have finally arrived in the United States under the Systems Approach protocol, replacing fumigation with methyl bromide with mitigation measures at source. This marks a significant achievement for the Chilean table grape industry and the milestone was celebrated by the Agricultural Attaché of the Chilean Embassy in the US, importers, and representatives of the Chile-Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. The grapes, imported by Dayka & Hackett, were received in excellent condition and are being distributed to several clients. This protocol is expected to improve the quality and condition of the fruit, reducing the need for fumigation and increasing competitiveness for Chilean producers.
