Bolivia has experienced a significant growth in food exports and production in the first four months of the year, with a 11% increase in volume and a 49% increase in value compared to the same period in 2020, according to the Institute Bolivian Foreign Trade (IBCE). The country is on track to reach a production record, with an anticipated expansion of over 4% depending on weather conditions. Non-traditional food products, which account for 80% of exports, have surpassed hydrocarbon sales. Despite the pandemic, the communications, public administration services, and agriculture sectors were the only ones to show growth in 2020. The agricultural sector, which accounted for 1.34% of the country's economic activity (IGAE) growth in the first four months of the year, has the potential to grow by more than 3% if conditions are met for free exports and stimuli.
