REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that the government will not tolerate violations of the maximum retail price (MRP) of foodstuffs ahead of Christmas and New Year (Nataru). Bapanas, together with the Food Task Force, is preparing enforcement measures across Indonesia after reaching an agreement with food associations to maintain prices in accordance with the regulations. Amran conveyed that the government has closed the possibility of price increases above the MRP due to the availability of sufficient supply. The agreement with business actors is aimed at maintaining balance from upstream to downstream to protect farmers, traders, and consumers alike. “We have agreed, there should be no sales above the MRP.
