Foresters supervised by the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Olsztyn aim to collect 80 tons of acorns this fall, aided by a smaller population of wild boars. The acorns are collected from designated seed stands and undergo evaluation, floatation, and thermotherapy to ensure their health and germination ability. The number of collected acorns and oak seedlings grown have been increasing every year, thanks to the introduction of more deciduous species, including oak, into the Olsztyn forests.
