In the first half of 2024, apple prices in France remained high, with an 8% increase in May compared to the previous year, despite larger stocks than last year. The total French apple stock was 84,359 tons at the end of June, which is 13,417 tonnes more than a year ago. The availability of Gala, Granny Smith, and Fuji varieties has decreased compared to last year. France has exported over 300,000 tons of apples from August 2023 to May 2024, with half of these exports going to the European Union, mainly to Spain and Germany. The Netherlands is the third largest buyer of French apples in the EU.
