The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency of Korea has successfully negotiated with the Philippines to ease quarantine requirements for exporting fresh tangerines, starting January 2024. This agreement allows exports by both ship and air, with sealing at pallet or container levels, and reduces the on-site quarantine requirement in the Philippines from 10% to 2%. These changes aim to expand the export market for Korean tangerines, which have not been exported to the Philippines since 2015, and demonstrate the agency's commitment to addressing farmers' concerns and enhancing export opportunities.
