From carp to sturgeon: which fish species are most popular among Ukrainian producers

Ukrainian aquaculture is showing dynamic development. In 2024, aquaculture production increased by almost 22% to 18,621 tons. This was reported by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Koval. According to him, the leaders in production are Cherkasy (4,400 tons), Lviv (1,543 tons), Khmelnytskyi (1,517 tons), Kirovohrad (1,456 tons) and Sumy (1,403 tons) regions. The main fish species are carp (8,896 tons), silver carp (4,434 tons), grass carp (637 tons), pike perch (1,854 tons), salmon (396 tons), catfish (273 tons), pike (211 tons), sturgeon (72 tons).
