At the "Improving Fruit Export Packaging and Processing" seminar held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 12, Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Minh Thy, Vice President of the Vietnam Packaging Association (VINPAS), General Director of Liksin Packaging Industry Corporation, stated that the post-harvest loss rate for fruits and vegetables in developing countries is very high, reaching 30-44%. Among the reasons leading to the very high loss of fruits and vegetables, the main cause lies in fruit packaging. According to Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Minh Thy, Vietnamese fruit packaging still has many limitations such as low sustainability due to heavy reliance on virgin plastic, cartons that do not meet high recycling standards. Vietnamese fruit packaging also lacks active packaging technology, which results in a high post-harvest damage rate (estimated at 15-30%).
