Brazil has opened its market to Chilean pomegranates, marking a significant milestone in agricultural cooperation between the two countries. This development was announced during a visit by a Brazilian delegation led by the Assistant Secretary for Agricultural Defense of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (MAPA), Márcio Rezende Evaristo Carlos. The visit also focused on establishing protocols for the export of Brazilian papayas to Chile. This move is expected to enhance bilateral trade and provide consumers with quality produce. Chile, which already exports a variety of fruits to Brazil, including apples, plums, and kiwis, is hopeful to start exporting pomegranates to Brazil from the 2023-2024 season.
