Gangneung Crab Net Association selected as an excellent self-managed fishery community.

[Korean Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper Reporter Lee Woo-jung] In the 2025 evaluation for the Excellent Autonomous Management Fisheries Community conducted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Gangneung Crab Trap Net Association was selected as an excellent community. Autonomous management fisheries refer to a community form of fisheries where fishermen themselves form a community and establish their own regulations to promote activities such as fishing ground protection and income increase. In this evaluation, the Gangneung Crab Trap Net Association received high praise for being recognized as a model in areas such as self-education of fishermen, monitoring of illegal fishing and compliance with safe operations, seed release, development of their own products, and opening up sales channels. Accordingly, they received a commendation from the Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries along with a total of 80 million won in support for the development of autonomous management fisheries.
