Georgian wine companies processed a record 320 thousand tons of grapes during the recent autumn harvest season, a 45% increase from the previous year, as announced by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The harvest saw over 21 thousand farmers contributing, generating income of 390 million lari ($144 million) and supporting 600 wine companies. The government continued its subsidy for wine companies to aid farmers. Georgia's main agricultural crop, grapes, is crucial for its economy, especially with wine, primarily exported to Russia, bringing in 60.1% of the total wine exports for the first eight months of the year, amounting to $146.8 million.
