Northeast Brazil is a major fruit producing region, renowned for its diversity and significant contribution to the country's economy. The region, covering nine states, is known for its production of a wide variety of fruits, including melons, watermelons, mangoes, grapes, and cashews. The favorable tropical climate and diverse soil types allow for high productivity of these fruits. The region has seen an increase in fruit exports, driven by the demand for healthier food options, and has established major fruit export centers in Pernambuco and Juazeiro, Bahia. The Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruit and Byproducts (Abrafrutas) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) are working to further support and promote Brazilian fruit exports.
