Beef: Brazil sets a new record and China reinforces its role as the main buyer

Brazil, the world's leading exporter and responsible for 35% of global beef exports, shipped 315 thousand metric tons in September last year, a new historical record, with this volume 25% higher than September 2024, invoicing US$ 1.770 billion, against US$ 1.160 billion in the same month of 2024, which implies a year-on-year increase of 55%. This record export, in volume and in dollars, occurs despite the U.S. market being virtually closed, due to the extremely high tariff imposed on Brazilian beef by the Donald Trump administration. This tariff could be reviewed in the coming weeks, as a result of the recent rapprochement between the U.S. president and his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio “Lula” Da Silva.
