Gimcheon walnut in South Korea secured variety protection rights for 25 years

The city secured the Gimcheon No. 1 variety protection right for 25 years. In the future, if a seedling dealer wants to produce and sell Gimcheon No. 1 walnut seedlings, a fee equivalent to 2% of the seedling price must be paid to the city of Gimcheon. Earlier, in March 2020, the walnut seed 'Hwangak' developed by Gimcheon City was also registered under the variety protection right.
