However, despite the size of this market, international trade of asparagus accounts for only about 10% of global consumption, revealing a broad potential for expansion. Most of the countries with the highest demand—such as the United States, China, and much of Europe—rely primarily on their local production. Globally, production is expected to reach 10.7 million metric tons by 2026, with China as the dominant producer; followed by Mexico, Germany, Peru, and the United States, which together account for more than 80% of the supply.
