Iran and the United States have seen a significant increase in pistachio production, with Iran's production rebounding by 70% to 180,000 tons and the US's production surging by 70% to a record 676,000 tons. Both countries experienced improved planting conditions and fruit-bearing areas, leading to a doubling of exports for Iran and a 48% increase for the US. Meanwhile, Turkey's production fell by 13% due to adverse growing conditions, and China and the EU emerged as the world's largest pistachio markets, with the EU's imports nearly doubling and China's more than doubling. The report highlights that these four markets accounted for 75% of the world's pistachio trade in 2020, contributing to a 90% increase in global imports over the past 10 years.
