REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) stated that the reference price (HR) of cocoa beans for the period of January 2026 experienced a decrease influenced by the increase in supply from producing countries. In a statement in Jakarta, Thursday (1/1/2026), Acting Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Tommy Andana, said the HR of cocoa beans was set at 5,662.38 US dollars per metric ton (MT), down 315.08 US dollars or 5.27 percent compared to the previous month. This decrease impacted the Export Benchmark Price (HPE) of cocoa beans for January 2026 which became 5,296 US dollars per MT, down 308 US dollars or 5.49 percent from the previous period. "The decrease in the HR and HPE of cocoa beans is influenced by the increase in cocoa bean supply due to increased production in major producing countries in West Africa. This condition is caused by improved weather conditions which were not followed by an increase in demand," explained Tommy. ...
