Former Governor Kim Young-rok of Jeonnam Province announced the 2050 Jeonnam Province Carbon Neutrality Vision at the 33rd Korea-Japan Strait Coastal Prefectures and Cities Exchange Governors' Conference held in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province on the 1st. The Korea-Japan Strait Coastal Prefectures and Cities Exchange Governors' Conference is a forum where eight Korean and Japanese prefectures and cities, including Jeonnam Province, Busan Metropolitan City, Gyeongnam Province, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Nagasaki Prefecture, Fukuoka Prefecture, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Saga Prefecture, discuss the development of the Korea-Japan Strait Coastal Region and solutions to common issues faced by these cities. This international conference has been held annually without interruption since 1992. This year's theme is "Carbon Neutrality Policies for Achieving the UN-SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)" to promote friendly cooperation between Korea and Japan and regional development.
