The Indian government has projected a record wheat production of 112.01 million tonnes for the 2023-24 crop year, surpassing the previous record by 1.46 million tonnes. However, the output of rabi rice, maize, and coarse cereals is expected to decrease compared to the previous year. The total rabi foodgrains output is also predicted to slightly drop to 155.16 million tonnes. For the 2024-25 rabi marketing season, the government has set a procurement target of 30-32 million tonnes.
