Grape shipments drop in New Zealand

In 2020, New Zealand imported US $ 294 million worth of fruit, showing a drop of 8% compared to the previous year. Its main supplier in that year was the United States with US $ 61 million shipments (21% share). In this market, Peru sent US $ 3 million in fruits, 27% less than the value observed in 2019. This contraction caused Peru to fall to eleventh place in the Top of suppliers, being surpassed by Canada. During the year, bananas were the main product imported by New Zealand, totaling 92,989 tons for US $ 71 million. Regarding the price, it suffered a slight fall of 1%, compared to 2019, reaching a price of US $ 0.76 per kilogram. The main suppliers of the fruit were Ecuador (74.60% participation), Mexico (12.70%) and the Philippines (12%). Despite the fact that Peru is a supplier country, it did not make direct shipments to this destination.
