Hungary: György Raskó expects tragic sunflower crop results

"Sunflower harvesting has started in our country in recent days. Sunflowers were sown on a total of 693,000 hectares, roughly as much as in previous years. 54% of the area is in the lowland counties, exactly where a devastating drought occurred this year. My national overview shows that even one ton yield can be considered good in the Great Plain regions, the situation is better in Transdanubia, where yields of around two tons can be expected. The bigger problem, however, is that the heat stress has also caught the sunflower, the seeds are largely empty and contain less oil than average. The receivers will probably downgrade everywhere because the average oil content does not reach 44%. If the yields do not improve in the future, then you have to prepare for quite tragic production results.
