The broad bean harvest in the Silifke district of Mersin, Turkey, has concluded. A total of 6 thousand tons of pods were harvested from 4 thousand decares of land, half of which was exported to Iraq. The price for the produce has decreased from 8 liras to 3 liras throughout the season. Ali Türer, President of Atayurt Hal Association, highlighted the significance of the broad bean, a staple in Turkish cuisine, and noted its high vitamin content. The broad bean, which can be consumed fresh or dried, is a key crop in the Çukurova region and is distributed to major cities in Turkey.
