The garlic harvest has commenced in Aksaray, a Turkish city reliant on agriculture and animal rearing for 80% of its population. This year's organic garlic production, spread across 100 decares of land and without the use of GMOs, is projected to see an increase in yield from the previous year, with expectations to reach 200 tons. Uğur Öngün, a farmer involved in the production, mentioned that this season's harvest started earlier due to climate change. The garlic variety being cultivated is in its 7th year of transition to full organic status and is expected to yield between 1.5 to 2 tons per acre, with the initial harvests showing promising results.
