The Luesi Corilicoltori Cooperative, based in Lu, Monferrato, is experiencing a challenging 2021 due to a significant drop in production, along with the rest of Piedmont. Despite these challenges, the cooperative, which is responsible for approximately 60 hectares of Piedmont Hazelnut IGP certified land, owned by three families, has been able to maintain its market presence through various channels. This includes supplying both semi-finished products for the food industry and products for the final consumer, with an increasing demand for their hazelnut spreads. The cooperative has also benefited from e-commerce, with an online shop playing a crucial role, especially during the current period. Although the prices have increased in line with expectations due to the product's scarcity, the cooperative enjoys higher prices when selling abroad, where about 60% of its production is marketed, with countries like Germany, France, Belgium, and Japan being significant markets.
