Hungary: Head cabbage in the open field costs less than the previous year

According to KSH data, Hungary produced 39.8 thousand tons of head cabbage in 2022, 7 percent more than a year earlier. Hungary's head and red cabbage foreign trade balance was negative in 2022, the delivered quantity reached 4.61 thousand tons, while 2.24 thousand tons went to foreign markets. In the first half of this year, imports increased by 5 percent to 3.07 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. Imports from Germany decreased by 8 percent to 1.65 thousand tons, from the Netherlands by 79 percent to 89.1 tons, from Spain by 79 percent to 32.6 tons, while imports from Poland increased by 92 percent to 674.9 tons. Exports increased by 9 percent and amounted to 2.15 thousand tons, a significant proportion of which was directed to the Scandinavian countries (Finland, Norway, Sweden).
