Hemp hailed as housing material hero for sustainability and robustness

Hemp is gaining momentum as an environmentally responsible building material, and Western Australia is at the centre of this growth. This is thanks in large part to early pioneers of the local industry, including the Margaret River Hemp Co and Hemp Homes Australia. Gary Rogers and Georgina Wilkinson have been involved in the Australian hemp industry for more than three decades. They founded Margaret River Hemp Co in 1995, making them among the first licensed hemp growers and processors in WA - holding industrial hemp license number 32. Over the years, they have helped build awareness of hemp's potential across farming, construction, textiles and environmental sustainability sectors. Mr Rogers said their businesses had always focused on developing sustainable agricultural systems and building a reliable, WA-based supply chain for hemp products.
