Jeonbuk-do in South Korea has reported a outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza virus on a native chicken farm and a laying hen farm in Jeongu-myeon, Jeongeup-si. In response, the province has culled a total of 120,000 birds from these and adjacent farms using mobile heat treatment, and has implemented strict quarantine measures including disinfection and movement restrictions. Additionally, the province has advised all poultry farmers to thoroughly disinfect their farms daily and report any suspicious livestock to the quarantine authorities.
