Spain: Hop cultivation takes root in Northwest of Murcia Region, reaching 11 hectares

Hop production in the Region of Murcia in 2020 amounted to 18 tons, harvested from the 11 hectares of land dedicated to this plant in the Northwest region, which is mainly used in the manufacture of beer by the Estrella de Levante company. General Director of Agriculture, Remedios García, has visited a farm located in the vicinity of Caravaca de la Cruz on the occasion of the beginning of the collection of this product and recalled that the experimental trials by the Autonomous Community began in 2018 in the Center of Agrarian Demonstration 'Las Nogueras'. Remedios García pointed out among the main world producers to Germany, from where it imports Spain, and the United States, while Spain exports part of its production to neighboring Portugal.
