At the opening press conference of the campaign, István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, said that more than half of the domestic meat production is provided by the poultry sector. Nearly 2,600 poultry farms produce fresh, healthy poultry meat and eggs. According to the data of the Central Statistical Office (CSO), the most popular source of animal protein in Hungary is poultry meat, where Hungarians eat almost 35.5 kilograms of poultry per year. Egg consumption has been growing steadily in recent years, with per capita egg consumption per capita in 2015 at 133, rising to 158 by 2018 on an annual basis. In order to encourage consumption, it is essential to familiarize consumers with high-quality, healthy and affordable Hungarian eggs and poultry meat.
