Hwaseong Agricultural Technology Center, operating agreement with three milking farms and raw milk bank

Hwaseong City Agricultural Technology Center signed agreements with Jang-an Farm, Hwangol Farm, and Bulro Farm on December 11 to ensure stable operation of the colostrum bank. The Hwaseong City colostrum bank has been operating since October 2022, collecting colostrum from the aforementioned farms, sterilizing and freezing it, and supplying it to livestock farmers in the region who have difficulty providing colostrum to their calves. Colostrum contains essential immune substances (immunoglobulins) and nutrients necessary for calves, and it is effective in preventing diseases and deaths. Indeed, the calf mortality rate among farms using the colostrum bank decreased from 11.3% at the end of 2022 to 9.8% at the end of 2024. According to the agreement, the Hwaseong City Agricultural Technology Center will be responsible for providing a colostrum storage facility and ensuring the prompt collection of colostrum for one year until 2026.
