IBR continues to circulate in Flanders in trade.

According to the latest figures from DGZ, since the beginning of 2026, 195 IBR carriers have already been detected on 20 farms through purchase research. These figures underscore the ongoing risk associated with animal imports, reports DGZ in its newsletter. DGZ calls on livestock farmers to adhere to strict biosecurity measures and isolation, especially when purchasing. Since the end of March, two new cases of IBR infection have been confirmed in West Flanders. This involves a mixed farm in Zande, where the infection was detected through an annual follow-up test. Additionally, there was an infection on a dairy farm in Moorslede, where the contamination came to light through purchase and trade research. These new cases demonstrate that the virus is still actively circulating, despite the efforts within the control program.
