Hong Kong is showing a growing interest in Korean beef due to its low-fat, chewy texture and soft taste. Korean beef, particularly the high-end Hanwoo beef, is gaining attention in Hong Kong as an alternative to Japanese wagyu beef. However, Korean beef is more expensive than beef from other countries, with Hanwoo priced at KRW 148,000 per kg compared to French and Chinese beef at $27 per kg. The limited export of Korean beef is attributed to the high cost of raising cattle in Korea, where most of it is consumed domestically.
