In 2022, Uzbekistan achieved a record watermelon export volume, with a significant increase in shipments to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, nearly doubling the previous year's exports. The export season, which started in late May, saw a notable increase in exports to Russia and a consistent growth in exports to Mongolia. This success is attributed to a bountiful harvest and relatively low domestic prices. Despite the high export volumes, watermelon prices in Uzbekistan fluctuated throughout the season, reaching as low as one-quarter of the prices from the previous year.
