Climate change has led to a significant increase in the cultivation of tropical fruits such as bananas, mangoes, avocados, limes, and passion fruit in Italy, particularly in the southern regions of Puglia, Calabria, and Sicily. This trend, highlighted by the national association of farmers, has doubled the growth of these crops in less than three years, covering over 1,000 hectares and resulting in an annual consumption of 900,000 tons. Young farmers are spearheading this adaptation, with avocado production in Sicily seeing a notable rise, exporting to various European countries and China.
