Index basket 2026: how prices for the holiday basket have changed over the year

On the eve of Easter 2026, the Ukrainian grocery market is showing rising prices for key holiday attributes. The main drivers of the price increase were eggs, dairy products, dried fruits, and greenhouse vegetables. According to the latest data, preparing 3-4 medium-sized Easter cakes at home using a classic recipe will cost 357.2 UAH. This is 12.2% more expensive than last year. The most significant impact on this indicator, called the "Easter cake index," was due to the prices of raisins, which increased by 27% to 53.4 UAH per 200 g. Butter also became more expensive by 13.1% to 138 UAH per 200 g, and milk by 11.6% to 34 UAH per half-liter. Chicken eggs increased in price by 13% over the past year, with their average cost per dozen reaching 86.4 UAH. Meanwhile, the rise in production costs was mitigated by deflation in the "sweet group."
