Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced a significant increase in India's spice production, with an 60% rise to 107 lakh tonnes since the 2014-15 season. The production of several spices, including jeera, garlic, ginger, saunf, coriander, fenugreek, red chilli, and turmeric, saw substantial increases. Furthermore, the country's earnings from spice exports almost doubled to Rs 29,535 crore during the same period. Tomar launched a handbook, 'Spice Statistics at a Glance - 2021', which provides comprehensive statistics on various aspects of spice production and trade, aiming to benefit policy makers, stakeholders, scientists, researchers, and farmers.
