Indonesia plans to import 900,000 tonnes of food-grade corn and 3.4 million tonnes of raw sugar in 2025, according to Zulkifli Hasan, the senior minister overseeing food affairs. These imports are for industrial raw materials and not for direct consumption. The country aims to achieve food self-sufficiency in the next four years under President Prabowo Subianto, although it will still import rice, possibly in small quantities due to expected production drops caused by dry weather.
