The National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service and the National Rural Development Administration are conducting an intensive crackdown on country of origin labeling violations by delivery apps in the Seoul area. This follows a recent crackdown in March that revealed 85.9% of the 78 companies found to be non-compliant were delivery apps. The crackdown will focus on companies mislabeling food as domestic when it contains foreign ingredients, mixing foreign and domestic ingredients, misrepresenting the country of origin of raw materials, and failing to indicate the country of origin in restaurants. Companies found to be non-compliant with the 'Country of Origin Labeling Act' could face criminal punishment or fines.
