By the middle of July, cherry picking was practically finished, and according to the data of the Institute of Agricultural Economics, the national average yield decreased by about 20 percent compared to last year, to 5.3 tons per hectare. The extremes were large nationally between the individual geographical units: the yield per hectare in the counties of Baranya and Nógrád was only 1.9–2.4 tons, while in Hajdú-Bihar it was 11.5 and in Komárom-Esztergom it was 15 tons - read the VG article. According to data from 90 percent of the apricot-growing areas, the apricot harvest this year exceeded the outstanding average yield of two years ago, the harvested quantity was 28.3 thousand tons at the time of the report, and the harvest was completed in eleven counties by that time.
