Iran has resumed the import of wheat from Caspian Sea region countries after a three-year hiatus, said the head of the main department for grain crops and commercial services of the northern Iranian province of Mazandaran, Mohammad Ali Ramezani.
"The first batch, weighing about 5,000 tons (as part of the - ed.) permit to import 30,000 tons of foreign wheat, has arrived at the port of Amirabad (in the Caspian Sea - ed.), and its unloading and transportation to the silos of the province (Mazandaran - ed.) will begin shortly," Ramezani was quoted as saying by the Tasnim agency.
