Iranian pistachio exports to China have increased by over 50%! New season quality falls short of expectations...

The 12th month of the season (August 23 to September 22) saw Iran export approximately 10,000 tons of pistachios (in shell weight). During this period, the market continued the trend from previous months: the trade of in-shell pistachios remained sluggish, prices were slightly adjusted, but there was no improvement in supply and demand; the demand for pistachio kernels remained strong, continuing to drive exports to all destinations, accounting for nearly half of the total monthly exports. For exports to China, the volume of Iranian pistachios exported to China in the 2024/25 season reached 27,947 tons, a 55% increase from the 18,060 tons in the 2023/24 season. IPA's previous estimate for the 2024 crop yield was 200,000 tons of dried in-shell pistachios, but considering the latest end-of-season carryover inventory estimate of 15,000 tons, IPA adjusted its previous estimate, finally determining the 2024 crop yield to be 217,000 tons.
